Crossed the Finish Line. Kablasto is Born!

Sound the alarms and grab a spare pair of googles — because I finally did it! After years of starting projects, stalling, and making excuses, I’ve actually finished my very first video game. Meet Kablasto — a fast-paced, retro-style space shooter built with the Godot engine.

For years, I’ve blogged about programming and game dev, but deep down there was always this nagging truth: “Buddy, you’ve never finished a game. Not one.” Well, that shame-monster can take a hike. Kablasto is done, dusted, and blasting its way onto Itch.io.

What is Kablasto?

Kablasto puts you in the hot seat of a starship that’s basically allergic to living. Asteroids are gunning for you, alien eyeballs are staring you down (rudely, I might add), and swarms of enemies are here to ruin your day. Your job Captain? Blow them to smithereens before they do the same to you.

It’s simple, it’s chaotic, and it’s built for play. Expect fast action, high scores, and maybe a little swearing when things get tight.

Play Kablasto

You can play Kablasto now on Itch.io:

⚠️ Warning: Itch.io lets you try Kablasto in your browser, but let’s be honest — it’s like trying to eat a steak through a straw. The game wasn’t made for online play. For the best, juiciest experience, download the free Windows version.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just about making a game. It’s about slaying the unfinished-project dragon that’s been breathing down my butt for years. I learned persistence, debugging, balance, and how to swear creatively at collision detection.

Finishing Kablasto feels like crossing the finish line of a marathon — except instead of a medal, I’ve got exploding eyeball ships, and instead of cheering fans, I’ve got players trying to beat my high score. (Good luck, you’ll need it.)

This is just the beginning. More games are coming, more chaos is brewing, and more digital creatures may be sacrificed in the process.

Thanks for sticking with me on this journey. Now go download Kablasto — and don’t forget to secure your shields and your snacks — Kablasto doesn’t play nice in zero gravity. 👾
