Getting Started with OpenMPT

When you first launch the openMPT program and close out any music file that is currently loaded, you will see a screen like this.

Click on File in the top left corner to bring up a list of options. From that list, hover the mouse pointer over New and another menu opens up.

Click on OpenMPT Module to start a new music project. The other available project types are meant to be compatible with other tracker programs.

Now that you have started a new project, you should see a screen that looks like this.

At a Glance

An OpenMPT music project has five different tabs, General, Patterns, Samples, Instruments, and Comments. When you start a new project, it is open on the General tab.

Let's skip past the General tab for now and start with the Samples tab.
