OpenMPT Samples

A sample is a recorded sound. You use the samples to write your music.

When you click on the Samples tab, you will see a screen that looks like this.

First you will need to load a sample into your project.

In the Samples tab screen you will see an icon that looks like a folder. Click it to import a sample.

Inside the openMPT directory you will see a folder named "ExampleSongs". Inside that folder, you will find another folder named "Samples". Inside that folder, you will find a bunch of files that have the .flac extension. These are sound samples. Pick one.

Now you should see the sample loaded into your project along with its wave pattern.

Near the top of the Samples tab, you will see a row of icons. If you click on the first one, which looks like notes, you will hear the sample play.

The first icon to the left of the folder lets you insert another sample.

Now your project has two samples. You can switch between them using the little arrows next to the number 2.

Just above the sound wave area is an icon that looks like a pencil. Click on the pencil icon and you can start drawing your own new wave pattern to create your own interesting sample sound.
