OpenMPT Patterns

The Patterns tab is where all the fun begins. It is in this tab you will compose your music.

The Patterns tab contains several channels. Each channel can play one sample or instrument at a time.

In the image above you can see an example of how to read the channel sounds.  In row 0 the C-5 means to play a C note in the fifth octave. The 01 means I am using sound sample 1 or if I am using instruments, then it means instrument 1. The v64 is your volume. The last available space is for if I were applying any effect type to that note, which in this example, I am not.

When you play your music, you will typically see the rows fly by pretty fast. The default seems to be 4 rows per beat, but this can all be adjusted.

Now just a quick glance at the General tab.

The General Tab

In the General tab you will be able to add information about your project, like the name of your music. You can set various volume controls, adjust tempo, or the number of rows.

You can name individual channels or apply channel effects, etc.

Now lets start making music.
